I can’t tell you how happy I was to see that my surgery was finally approved, well for the most part it was approved. The insurance denied the acetabuloplasty portion but they approved the femoroplasty and labral repair. I bawled like a baby when I saw the approval. My husband saw me crying and asked “uh oh, who died?” And I told him I wasn’t crying sad tears, I was crying happy tears. After 7+ years of dealing with this and getting no where with the providers I saw, and feeling like I was crazy in the head because no one took it seriously and I couldn’t find a surgeon willing to do anything, until I finally found a provider who documented things properly and referred me to a surgeon who saw my case and said he could help me and would be willing to help me. And that he believes surgery will help me get my life back. It’s silly to say but I look forward to being able to put on my own socks again. And I look forward to being able to grocery shop in person again. And I look forward to being able to go to sit down on the toilet and not have to contort my body like a newborn giraffe who doesn’t know how to use their legs and they just go all over the place! 

My husband snuck a photo of me today while I was standing in the kitchen figuring out how my wireless charger works. He sent me the photo and a text that said “you have that pain lean.” And he was right. I didn’t even realize I had been doing it but I was offloading the weight and stress from standing there from my left hip to my right hip. He said that he sees me standing like this a lot. And I was only standing there less than 5 min but when I went to start walking my hip locked up and the pain intensified and I couldn’t find barely make it to the next room.
