Vuse Alto 👎, other recs?

Made the mistake of buying a vuse alto as my first non-disposable. The device is fine but the pods are just horrible, always brown and gross and taste burnt half the time even when they look fine.

What are my options? I can’t find any other types of pods that fit the alto. I have also tried going to a dedicated smoke shop for the pods but they are still often gross to the point where I don’t trust them to be completely ruining my health. But maybe they aren’t that bad and I just don’t know where to buy?

Should I just accept the money wasted and buy a refillable system? If so, what is the most budget friendly option? For context, I’m not a casual/regular user, only on occasion it’s nice to have, which is why I’m reluctant to pick this route
