I know the only look at the new design we got is through a CGI trailer, which always differs from in-game models. And I still like it despite its flaws, but I think there are some design choices that make way more sense in the concept art.

Even though it's a smart way to give him a teenager look, I was not a fan of Spyro's crest looking like hair with a front strand, as I've always thought of them as spikes and felt it was diverging too much from the Reignited model's spike texture.

BUT when you take a look at the concept art, it looks way more in line with the original model while selling the exact same idea. The crest looks like it's made of the same material but with more details to fit with the overall artstyle evolution in-game. And the front strand looks like it's peeling or cracking, as if it were part of a dragon's puberty while still looking like a rebellious teen's lock of hair. And when you compare the original design concept art with the redesign one, you can see that IT IS the original front spike that has been split in half.

Some other things I noticed is that in the concept art, they've made the design changes over the original design and kept more of the original features with slight modifications than in the CGI model. The eyebrows are just a bit more detailed and pronounced, the muzzle is slightly bigger but keeps the exact same shape, and Spyro retains his classic silhouette, just with slightly sharper angles.

So yeah, I hope the final in-game models will be closer to the concept art than the CGI one !

I think the concept art sells the new design way better.
