Where to start?

I want to start getting into the dc comics, specifically batman. But the there is just too many comics and i dont know where to exactly start. I want to start from scratch because i want to know the context in the later comics. Which order of reading would you guys recommend? And will it take me too long to catch up with the nightwing series?
