any advice/help for a beginner devote? :)

I’ve recently been trying to connect with Santa Muerte because I really want a connection and protection. I just need someone who understands me and can protect me, especially since my home-life situation is really bad right now and I struggle with mh (depression). Even tho it can be difficult I try my best to give her offerings every day mostly water and try to pray/talk to her as much as I can u. I've already introduced myself, asked for help, and I talk to her about my day usually i js cry or complain which i feel bad for sometimes, but like I can't tell if she's listening or accepting my offerings. I just feel stuck...
