Autofocus not working on Sony a6000, sigma dg 150-500mm 5-6.3 apo hsm, and la-ea5 adapter?

I’m new to photography and I’m struggling to get the autofocus working with this new setup. I bout the two in a bundle knowing that I would have limited autofocus ability, however the autofocus doesn’t work at ALL! The camera just hunts for focus and when it thinks it’s “focused” it is super blurry. Is there a way where I can make this work, or will I have to do something else like getting like a firmware’s update, or get the la-ea4 adapter? I know the lens has autofocus motors in it, so is there a way where I can use them instead of my camera body?
