Are electric kettles and irons allowed in hostels?

I'm joining dsu in a few weeks and making a list of things I need to bring with me and one of my main doubts has been regarding electric kettles and irons. Are students allowed to keep them in their hostel rooms and will they get seized if the warden searches the room? If they aren't allowed, how can I get food late at night in case I'm studying or anything. I'll be using them occasionally anyway.
