Moving to Canada

[Serious decision]

This is a while away but I wanted to get ideas for what I should do in the future. So for context, I am an American citizen, I am trans (sort of obvious to my disdain) and i’m a 3rd year in veterinary school at an American school. My goal after graduation is to move to Canada and practice as a livestock or mixed (cats/dogs, livestock, horses, wildlife) vet. I had a few questions about what I should do. For one, I understand I will either need to get a working visa for a year and then apply for express entry or I can work in the U.S. for a year and then apply for express entry. Does anyone know which of these would be a better option? I also want to apply for the foreign earned income exclusion as well so does this get affected by either route to permanent residency? I also wanted to see if anyone had any recommendations on where I should go to practice? Ideally I want to stay away from ontario, saskatchewan, alberta, and manitoba. I was considering Quebec (but i will have to learn french), british columbia (but it’s v expensive & far), Nova Scotia/Cape Breton/Newfoundland (have heard it’s hard to get great healthcare), and Whitehorse in YT (i really want to go here but i don’t think it’s realistic). Another factor is I eventually want to bring my elderly mom with me to live which is why healthcare is a pretty big factor in my decision. Any thoughts, ideas, or opinions are welcomed!
