Seeking guidance on foils.

I have non foil proxies dialed in to an exact science and couldn’t be happier but I have no idea how to do foils whatever I do ends up being so much more inferior to my no foil cards it is very discouraging. Snap and thickness are importen to me. The tools I have are a laminator cameo and an eco tank I know the basics but that’s the go to materials to get to utilize my setup for foils?
