6 Years of being a NEET
Long time lurker, first time poster. To give some background on myself, I am a 28 year old female who had been a NEET since 2020 after I graduated college, so six years now. I tried to get a job after college and was constantly rejected or ghosted. It killed my self esteem and I got tired of failing that I literally just gave up. I’ve never been diagnosed but I also suspect I’m on the autism spectrum and this is why I have so many issues with employment. The thought of having a job gives me so much anxiety. I just don’t know how the average person is able to get up and go to one every single day. I feel bad because the only reason I’m not homeless and starving is because of the kindness of my parents financial support. I keep getting denied for NEET bucks even though I have mental and physical issues that I feel like should get me approved. I just don’t know how to feel about my situation and life. Some days I’m glad that I have the freedom to do whatever I want and other days I worry about what I’m going to do once my parents are gone. I’ve recently been thinking of trying to get out of my NEET lifestyle, but the anxiety keeps me paralyzed. Also, even though no one has explicitly said any negative to me, I can feel it. I just don’t know what to do or how long I plan on being a NEET. I don’t see it changing any time soon, and maybe, that’s not actually a bad thing. Thanks for reading if you’ve made this far. I really appreciate it.
