Time Gaps in ND Relationships

Is it normal to have communication gaps of about a week consistently for about a year in an intimate friendship/situationship? We are both ND and long distance. Sometimes its a few times a week, but most of the time its about a week or a week and a half. When we do text, it tends to be long sessions.

Is this an indicator that they aren't very interested like it would be in NT relationships? Space if fine and I need space too, but I get confused sometimes...do they actually really like me? I've tried asking before about why they withdraw so much and they said it was because loneliness becomes more intense after contact.
