Help Me Find a Messaging Service

Looking for a messaging service that was used in 2007. I'm located in the US, but the platform may not have been exclusive to the region. I recall the service was initiated on a webpage and was subsequently used via text message. I think the service may have used hidden or proxy phone numbers; I'm not 100% sure. It was NOT a dating site or messenger.

My husband and I met via this platform in 2007 and we cannot seem to remember what it was and it is driving us crazy.
