Throughout the past few years, Jack has tried to form a proper father-daughter relationship with Gwen. 

However, no matter how hard he tried, there was always something or someone keeping them away from each other. 

The constant issue has always been either Jack’s family with Jennifer or Gwen herself. 

Gwen has always been her worst enemy. She had a difficult time growing up without her father, and I believe that her mother died from a drug overdose. 

She had no real guidance in life, which is partially why Gwen sometimes makes bad decisions. And sometimes Gwen thinks hurting others would make her life easier.  And she has done things to hurt Jack's family like killing Jennifer and Mikd Horton's mother Laura. Which may or may not have been an accident. (I need to go back and rewatch that story.)

But he has tried to be there for her. Especially after Abigail died. But after losing Abigail, Jack has spent most of his time in Boston with Jennifer. So he never got a proper chance at a relationship with Gwen. 

Anyway, Jack's family isn’t a saint either. They view Gwen as an obstacle to living a life with Jack. They hate the fact that Jack has another daughter and want to do whatever they can to force Jack out of Gwen's life.

The only one who tried to have a normal relationship with Gwen was JJ. However, his loyalty to his parents always got the best of him. Plus, he doesn’t want to hurt Jennifer.

Jennifer believes she’s a victim of Jack's affair. And while it’s awful that he cheated on her, that’s in the past, and Gwen shouldn’t pay for something that Jack himself did. And besides, Jennifer should give Gwen an easier time. After all, Gwen did try to protect Jennifer when she started a drug addiction back in 2022. And there was a moment when Jennifer considered giving Gwen a chance back when Cady McClain played Jennifer. That version was way different than Melissa Reeves.

It just sucks that Jack has been stuck in the middle between his two families. At least with Jack's brother Steve, he managed to live a life with both of his families. And Kayla, Stephanie, and Joey learned to accept Tripp, despite all of the horrible things that his mother Ava has done to them. Maybe Jack needs some family advice from Steve or something. 

It's honestly tragic that Jack and Gwen never had a proper father-daughter relationship
