Deep fried turkey......

Ok, non American here, the Thanksgiving episode is probably my favourite of the season but I have a couple of questions......

1. Is deep frying the most common way to cook a turkey at Thanksgiving?? I've seen it in a few shows now.

2. How hot is the oil and how long would that size turkey take to cook?
