[VA] Sterling background check of employment history

I was fired from my first job a year ago and started a new summer one (I'm a student) recently. I have to do a background check through Sterling. I omitted my previous employment/firing in the application. The email from Sterling says I need to provide the relevant details of my employment history. If I say that I have none/have never worked anywhere before, will they be able to verify that is untrue? TLDR, will Sterling be able to find that I lied on my application and/or that I was fired.
