Volvo V4 D4 vea issues

I have a 2015 V40 D4 vea engine that seems to have a few small issues when doing low speeds the engine seems to judder a little every now and then. Also when the engine does a dpf regen if you have to come to a stop I've noticed a small amount of smoke coming from under the bonnet and you can smell it really strongly. I'm guessing these issues are linked. Could it be a egr problem, split pipe somewhere???? Any advice would be greatly appreciated if you've had similar problem.
