Trump Promised He Would Never Touch Social Security Or Medicare. The Math Says He Already Did. And The Speaker Just Said More Cuts Are Coming Next Year.
THIS IS THE MOST CONTROVERSIAL
THING WE HAVE EVER POSTED.
Because it is not about politics.
It is about your retirement.
Your parents' retirement.
Your grandparents' healthcare.
And a promise that was made
directly to the American people.
Then broken.
In writing.
With math to prove it.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
HERE IS THE PROMISE
Donald Trump said it
repeatedly and clearly
during the 2024 campaign.
He would not touch
Social Security.
He would not touch Medicare.
He would not cut either program.
Not once.
Not ever.
End of discussion.
Americans believed him.
Older Americans voted for him.
Millions of people made
their voting decision
based on that promise.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
HERE IS WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED
July 4 2025.
Trump signed the One Big
Beautiful Bill into law.
The same day Americans
were celebrating their independence
the most consequential piece
of domestic legislation
in a generation became law.
Here is what it actually does
to Social Security and Medicare.
The nonpartisan Committee
for a Responsible Federal Budget
the most respected independent
budget watchdog in America
ran the numbers.
Social Security insolvency
is now projected for 2032.
Not 2033 like it was before.
One year sooner.
Because of this bill.
Medicare's projected shortfall
is now 33 percent worse
than it was last year.
33 percent worse.
Because of a bill called
the One Big Beautiful Bill.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
AND THEN THE SPEAKER SAID THIS
June 9 2026.
House Speaker Mike Johnson
gave an interview.
He was asked about Social Security
Medicare and Medicaid.
He said:
These programs have to be
adjusted and fixed.
We have a plan to do that
next year.
Next year.
The same year as the midterms.
The same year the budget
deadline hits September 30.
The same year the Supreme Court
is dropping rulings that
could reshape American democracy.
The Speaker of the House
just told you on the record
that Social Security Medicare
and Medicaid are next.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
HERE IS WHAT IS ALREADY
HAPPENING RIGHT NOW
The One Big Beautiful Bill
was already the largest cut
to Medicaid in American history.
It added nearly 5 trillion dollars
to the national debt.
Through tax cuts for the wealthy.
While simultaneously cutting
the programs working Americans
depend on to survive.
Here is what is already in effect:
A 64 year old with income
just above the subsidy cutoff
is now facing an annual
premium increase of 11,000 dollars.
Eleven thousand dollars per year.
For a 64 year old.
One year before Medicare eligibility.
Medicaid work reporting requirements
kick in before the end of 2026.
When states comply they must
notify enrollees their benefits
will soon be subject to new rules.
Refugees asylees and humanitarian
parolees will be notified
they are no longer eligible
for Medicare.
Effective January 4 2027.
And the food assistance program
benefit amounts are frozen.
The government's ability to adjust
them for the actual cost
of a healthy diet has been eliminated.
Your food stamps.
Frozen.
While inflation hits 4.2 percent.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
HERE IS THE HUMAN COST
BEHIND THE NUMBERS
Arren is 22 years old.
He has autism.
The cuts to home and community
based services in this bill
would mean the end of his ability
to live independently
and participate in his community.
The funding allocated to replace
what was cut is 50 million dollars.
Split among all 50 states.
That covers the costs for
approximately 27 people per state.
27 people.
Per state.
To replace a program
that served millions.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
ANGLE 1 — WHO PROFITS
FROM ACCELERATING INSOLVENCY
The bill made permanent the
2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
The primary beneficiaries
of those permanent tax cuts
are the wealthiest Americans
and the largest corporations.
The average tax cut for the
bottom 20 percent of earners
in 2026 is zero dollars.
For the fourth income quintile
the average cut is 1070 dollars.
For the top 1 percent
the cuts are significantly larger.
The bill added 5 trillion dollars
to the national debt.
To fund tax cuts
that delivered zero benefit
to the bottom fifth of Americans.
While accelerating the insolvency
of the programs those same
Americans depend on to retire.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
ANGLE 2 — WHO IS FUNDING
BOTH SIDES OF THIS FIGHT
On the side that passed this bill:
The donor class that funded
Trump's 2024 campaign.
The same donors who received
the permanent tax cuts.
The same corporations who lobbied
for the 2017 law being made permanent.
On the other side:
Every American who pays
into Social Security.
Every senior who depends
on Medicare.
Every disabled American
whose home care was just
defunded for 27 people per state.
In the middle:
The Committee for a Responsible
Federal Budget.
A nonpartisan organization.
Founded by former members
of both parties.
Who ran the numbers.
And published what they found.
Regardless of who asked them to.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
ANGLE 3 — WHAT THE POLITICAL
CONTRACTS BEHIND THIS TELL YOU
The Speaker just said
Social Security Medicare
and Medicaid are next.
Next year.
The same year as the midterms.
The same year the budget
deadline hits September 30.
The same year the Supreme Court
drops rulings on presidential
power to control independent agencies.
Including potentially the agency
that manages Social Security payments.
Connect this to everything
we have reported this week.
The Voting Rights Act demolished.
The SAVE Act passed.
ICE surveilling protesters.
The DOJ seizing children's
medical records.
76 days of government shutdown.
AI super PACs in primaries.
Trump planning to subvert
midterm results.
And now Social Security insolvency
accelerated by one year.
Medicare 33 percent worse.
The Speaker promising more cuts
are coming next year.
The people who will lose
the most from those cuts
are the same people whose
voting rights are being restricted.
Whose districts are being redrawn.
Whose ballots are being questioned.
Whose registration is being
made harder.
That is not a coincidence.
That is a strategy.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
ONE FINAL NUMBER
When Social Security runs
out of reserves in 2032
every beneficiary faces
an automatic 22 percent cut.
Not a political cut.
Not a voted on cut.
An automatic mathematical cut.
Happening to every retiree.
In six years.
Whether they voted for it or not.
The people in Washington
promising not to touch it
just moved that date
one year closer.
And then promised to come back
next year for more.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Nobody paid us to write this.
The donors who received
permanent tax cuts from a bill
that accelerated your retirement
insolvency would prefer you
called this complicated
fiscal policy and kept scrolling.
We read the math.
So you do not have to trust
anyone else's version of it.
