In 2026, what are the biggest differences between WPS Office, Microsoft Office and LibreOffice?

I've been comparing office suites lately and it feels like a lot of discussions are stuck in opinions from years ago.

Back then, the answer often seemed simple: Microsoft Office if you could afford it, LibreOffice if you wanted something free.

But in 2026, the landscape feels more complicated.

Microsoft 365 still seems to have advantages in areas like advanced Excel features, real time collaboration, OneDrive integration, and workplace standardization.

LibreOffice remains one of the most popular open source options and has a strong reputation among Linux users and people who want a fully offline workflow.

WPS Office has gained a lot of attention because of its familiar interface, Microsoft file compatibility, PDF tools, and cross platform support.

For everyday tasks like documents, presentations, PDFs, and basic spreadsheets, the gap between these options feels much smaller than it used to.

So for people who have used multiple office suites recently:

  • What are the biggest differences you've noticed?
  • Which one feels fastest on your hardware?
  • What feature keeps you from switching completely?

I'm less interested in feature lists and more interested in real world experiences.
