Already in Canada? ignoring your ECA could be costing you valuable CRS points.

One of the biggest misconceptions in Canada immigration is this: "I'm already in Canada, so I don't need an ECA."

For many Express Entry applicants, an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) can be a game changer. If your highest education was completed outside Canada, an ECA can help you claim CRS points for that credential.

The controversial part? Thousands of temporary residents focus only on gaining Canadian work experience while completely ignoring their foreign education. In some cases, an ECA can add valuable CRS points without requiring another year of work or another expensive program.

Of course, not everyone needs an ECA. If you're claiming points only for a Canadian credential, it may not be necessary. But if you have a bachelor's, master's, or other post-secondary education from outside Canada, overlooking an ECA could mean leaving points on the table.

Sometimes, the difference between waiting in the pool and receiving an ITA is not another job. It's properly recognizing the education you already earned.
