Non Teaching Spouse + One Kid
Hello,
I have been a teacher in the UK for 8 years - 7 teaching Secondary English and 1 year as a Pastoral Middle Leader/Head of House. I spent time teaching ESL abroad before this.
My wife (non teaching) and I have always wanted to live abroad and being an international school teacher has always been an ambition. We will be having our first child soon and we wanted to have it in the UK. Despite this, we are interested in potentially making the move abroad in a few years time.
We’re interested in Asia (I taught ESL in SE Asia) as we have spent a lot of time there. Poland is also an option as that’s where my wife is from and we have family there. However, we’re open to new places if the right job were to come up.
I know the market is getting more and more competitive. So, what are my chances with two dependents? I’d be open to English or Pastoral roles. Is it feasible to support a family of 3 on one salary?
