Feeling overwhelmed and hopeless
Hi everyone, I live in an older 3-unit apartment and have had ongoing roach problems since I moved in last fall. The source of the issue was largely my upstairs neighbors, who lived in absolute filth — the kids left rotting food scraps in the hallways, trash and food waste on their balcony, and when they’d leave their doors open, you’d often see piles of garbage on their stairs. All three units have dealt with bugs and they’re even in our basement laundry room. I began treating my unit with Advion and Gentrol IGR and saw substantial improvements, reducing the daily number of roaches I’d see from in the dozens to under 10.
Around 2 weeks ago, they moved out which has understandably disturbed the population, leading to a huge amount of spillover into my unit, which is right below them. This was further exacerbated by professional cleaners deep cleaning their unit the other day. Since then, I’ve begun seeing way more in our hallways and even some in my room, which is honestly my biggest nightmare. I don’t eat or keep any food in here and dispose of my cat’s food when I’m not going to be home for awhile. I’ve done what I can, sealing up all of my baseboards and baiting underneath them before sealing, but still see them. I’m not sure if there are more gaps I haven’t found or if they’re coming in through my door, because my bedroom is right next to the front door where I’ve been seeing a lot of them. Most of the ones I’ve seen in my room have been nymphs, but I just found the first adult I’ve seen in my room in my blinds.
I’ve rotated to Vendetta plus and we had a professional come and treat the building on Thursday. They’ll be returning every 2 weeks until September. I know it’s too early to decide these sightings mean failure, but I can’t help but be extremely paranoid that they’re going to start nesting in my room. Any advice or additional product recommendations would be appreciated.
