New Frequencies are not being added to my Codec in MGS 1 (PS1 on Retroarch)

So i was playing The Metal gear games from the very start and started with MGS 1, and i saw some videos online where people opened the Memory tab and there were a bunch of names for you to contact but i only had 3, that being Campbell, Mei Ling, and Snake's master. The armstech CEO ( i forgot his name) gave me Meryl's Frequency but that is not appearing in the memory tab either and i have tried everything but her Frequency just isnt being added to the Codec. I also contacted Natasha by dialing her Frequency and even HER Codec isnt saved in the memory tab. So do i have to dial it manually again and again or am i doing something wrong?
