One of my cats constantly wants food

Hi all,

I have an automatic feeder for one of my cats who I found as a stray. He constantly wants food and I have to hide anything from him because he will chew through plastic to get to any kind of food. I have to hide everything in my cabinets. I think he learned that behavior because he was on the streets for a while.

Any advice on how to get him away from constantly being hungry or wanting to eat? He also constantly wakes me up at 4am meowing for food.
