Being strung along?
Background: I've been at my company for 6 months. Prior to this I was only at my last role for 4 months due to an acquisition and an RTO mandate that was implemented when the acquisition was complete. I live across the country from HQ so I had to leave. Other than that incident, I have a stable employment history (6 years at one company, 4 at the other).

That said, I like my current employer but there's been a strange situation occurring hence I need advice.

I work for an ad agency and the account I'm on seems like a dead end. The budget is very low, the clients are a nightmare and there is no room for us to function as an agency because of the clients. Additionally, the brand itself has recently gone through an acquisition and there's a lot of uncertainty.
\
Over the past 3 months, the Account Director (my manager) has been placed on a piece of new biz we've won. I've mentioned several times I'd like to move over there as it would allow me the growth and stability I'm looking for. I even went as far as responding to an email that was sent out by higher ups asking if anyone had experience in that indication the new business specializes in. Crickets. When I've asked my manager about it, she says they're looking for people on the West Coast because this new client is there. However, she lives on the East coast and is staying on that account.

We have both acknowledged that this situation isn't working for either of us. She is spread too thin and has communicated her concerns (and mine) to her superior. Her superior met with me and the "solution" proposed to me was to hire an SVP which makes no sense for a few reasons: 1. SVPs aren't involved in the day-to-day 2. It will take awhile for them to get up to speed 3. It doesn't solve me getting off the account. The next "solution" proposed is to have an internal person help out behind the scenes. This person only has a 25% capacity and they previously requested off this piece of business. Again, not solving the problem. I was then told that they need me on this account and they have no where to move me, (which is strange because they just moved someone else to that new account). I was then asked to hang on and see how things go when we have 2027 budgets (likely October) but I'm hesitant because it feels like I'm being strung along. I've also been in this situation before at a previous employer and they made all these promises and kept moving the goal posts. I can't shake the feeling the same is happening again.

I would love to hear everyone's take on this and what would you do?
