TIL about From the Dark (2020), whose lead actress was under investigation for murder while it was being filmed.

TW: REAL LIFE MURDER

For any horror movie fans also interested in true crime, I just learned about this case today and wanted to share, and before I start let me say - RIP Shane Reed.

From the Dark (the 2020 one, there are multiple) is a horror/thriller murder mystery, the main actress Wyn Reed(Aisling Tucker Moore-Reed) was under investigation and eventually convicted of killing her uncle in May 2020 over inheritance proceedings. There was a notary present with this family, the son wanted his mother to sign her property to him after her death, and his sister and her daughter who he had already been feuding with took issue, with the daughter picking up a handgun and shooting him as he walked towards the property.

They had a protective order against him, but he showed no threat to either of them at the time, and in the end it seemed the woman and her daughter were conspiring specifically to keep him away from his mother for inheritance purposes, it was even argued the mother may have told her to shoot him before hand.

Tucker claimed it was self defense, and he threatened to kill her mother if the grandma did not sign, but she recorded the entire incident on her phone, and once that was handed over, her charges were upgraded from manslaughter to murder. She then tried to sue her attorney for turning the phone over.
