Golf didn't change my swing. It changed how I sit in traffic.

General Discussion

Been playing about three years now and something clicked for me recently. I was stuck in a brutal traffic jam that would have had me fuming a couple years back. Instead I just sat there thinking about my swing tempo and what I want to work on at the range. No stress, no frustration. Just calm.

I started wondering if this is a golf thing or just getting older. The game has genuinely changed how I approach problems. On the course you have no choice but to reset after a bad shot, stay present, and think one shot at a time. That mental discipline bleeds into real life whether you notice it or not.

Curious if others have experienced this. Has the course made you more patient off it? Or do you know people who are somehow the most composed person at work but a complete wreck on the back nine when everything falls apart?

Also wondering if anyone has intentionally used golf to practice focus and mental toughness, treating rounds almost like a mindfulness exercise rather than just recreation. Would love to hear how that's worked out, because I'm thinking about being more deliberate about it going forward.
