Did I do the right thing?
So I had been dating this guy for the last 3 almost 4 months, but I've known him for 6. Everything was going well and I liked him so much, I was so happy he seemed like somebody who's worth spending your time on based on his beliefs and his overall behavior. There were some weird things he did, like wanting to keep me away from his friend circle and basically spending most of his free time with them, while spending a small amount of it with me, but I didn't think much of it cause he can do whatever he wants with his safe space. What was weird though was that there were many women in his friend group or girlfriends of his friends but for some reason he was really strict on his decision to keep me away. I did feel kinda hidden but that's not the problem. I started seeing parts of him that I hadn't seen in the beginning. There was this thing that happened last month, he followed a woman who he'd met on his game with the excuse that his friend jokingly pretended to be him and he gave his account away. A big argument occurred and he made it out like I was overreacting. It wasn't the follow but his reaction to it and the fact that a person in a relationship should respect his partner even with something as small as this. Another thing was that he kept following different women from our city every other day. His excuse was that he is really outgoing and he knows everyone around the city which could be true, not everyone is an introvert like me, but following different women every day? This was kinda weird and he agreed to stop it... After we had a huge fight about it. The problem was that he kept on trying to make me out to be the crazy one without seeing anything wrong in his behavior. The other thing I found weird was that he didn't want to do anything with me other than grabbing a coffee, going swimming or having a sleepover at his. He was being pretty creative with his friends but when I'd ask for us to do something different or fun he would respond with "right now, this is all I wanna do with you, cause I don't know you well and the relationship is still new". I accepted that too cause even now, I see it as something that could be true or a really good excuse but I still didn't know him so I didn't want to jump into conclusions. What also hurt me was that every single talk he viewed as my problem and lately he would play tired of me speaking to him about such things, which I also tried to understand. The day before yesterday he , on his own, brought up our last argument and wanted to have a talk about it, which made me think he actually cared and I thought that this was finally the start of a peaceful relationship. The next day though, I came across a like of his in my feed, on an of person, she was literally almost naked showing off both her cleavage and her back side in a revealing bikini. In a talk we had in the past he made clear that he hates women who wear revealing clothes on the beach, he feels disgusted by them. Then we also discussed looking at other good looking people while in the relationship and we both agreed that it's fine as soon as it's done discreetly and respectfully. My dude not only had liked a straight up porn person (almost) with a string that he hated seeing, but he had also made it super public with the like he had pressed. I sent him the video and joked "nice like". The only thing he said was "wow it must have been the wind" then "well I know it's not justified but I liked it out of habit" and then he tried convincing me that what he had said about revealing bikinis was only applied to the women in our town and not random women online , which I found ridiculous cause if you hate seeing something, you hate it in every country. Then he tried to make me out to be crazy with the excuse that he also likes extreme things like dead bodies and this doesn't mean he wants to be a criminal or that he likes them. Anyway I realized his lame tries to gaslight them and at this point my problem wasn't the like but his need to manipulate me with lame excuses, like come on, a 24 year old doesn't know the difference between a like on a sleeping cat and a like on a half naked woman? There was basically me trying to explain how bad this made me feel and him telling me to chill and that I'm overreacting over a like. I asked him to talk in person and the whole thing ended there. He didn't text the next day and honestly this was my sign that he didn't really care, so I just broke up with him cause he had started being disrespectful. I don't know if I did the right thing cause his words"breaking up with me for a like?" keep repeating in my brain.
