NBA Cup vs NBA Finals

Something I dont see mentioned here is how the Knicks defeated the Spurs in the NBA cup and the NBA finals. I wonder how well the metric for tournament style performance early season and postseason will continue to lineup. It happened with the Pacers last year too. Just thinking aloud but found it interesting.
