First Hospitalization since teen
To start I was diagnosed with bipolar around the age of 15 but I didn’t start actually taking meds until 19. The reason being for this was my parents told me they couldn’t afford it since I didn’t have insurance, that was a lie cause I know I did. I had it through my biological father from the divorce agreement but that’s neither here nor there. Anyways I tried to kill myself at that age prompting a hospitalization, and the diagnosis of bipolar with suicidal ideation. Fast forward I’m now almost 25 and work a steady job have a great relationship both of which I’ve had for the last 6 years and I’m very strict with my meds and keep up with the psychiatrist. I started to have things come up at work that I couldn’t ignore i.e. someone doing something illegal.
I started to lose sleep over how I would go about reporting them and if I should. I hadn’t slept in three days so I called 988 at 2 am just to have someone to talk to as my significant other was sleeping. It helps take the work stress off my chest and I’m able to sleep. Then the next day at work I decide to come forward and talk to me boss, only issue is because of all the pressure and stress I had a really bad anxiety attack in his office, so bad they called the paramedics and they briefly calmed me down but then I guess I mentioned I called 988 so they took that as I was suicidal so they called the cops and baker-acted me. I was first sent to a decent facility close by, but in the middle of the night I was thrown into a van and transported who knows where, there was a fight in the van, there was blood all over the floor in the entrance I was freaking tf out. My family had no idea where I was until days later and honestly I was so drugged up I barely remember the 10 day stay. Now when I got home from that place I was in full blown psychosis. I was hearing things that weren’t there, I thought people were trying to kill me, the whole nine. I then was put back in the hospital by my significant other, a better one this time.
Although I got baker-acted again so I now have 2 on my record but it is what it is. That stay I remember a lot more clearly and they were nice and straightforward about the meds they were giving me. Now after a 6 day stay there I am back home, experiencing some rhabdo from all the stress. I’m having some nightmares about the hospitalization itself which is something I gotta work on in therapy for sure. All this to say, never go to your boss to report something if you haven’t been sleeping and were already possibly manic, it didn’t work out well for me.
If you haven’t any questions for me feel free to ask, this is my first time dealing with psychosis so any insight is appreciated. :)
