AI assistants?

This is just a general question. After a years long hiatus from all things tech, I returned and finally built my favorite PC last year. It works flawlessly but one thing I'm considering is a voice control option or AI assistant type of software for basics.

Did any of you build something similar or do you just use a pre-built software available? What's your take?
