Private learner at SSDC

Can I check if I am (private learner) allow to do eyes sight test and photo taking on the day I do my enrolment as a private learner or do I need to book an appointment to do the eye sight test and photo taking at SSDC?

As a private learner do we need to pass basic theory trial practice and test or we can just skip it and straight away book Basic Theory test (BTT)?
