*By request, I am going to explain all of the list from my recent finale entry and my ranking of the girls. As a warning: this list is basically based on my "A Strange '100 Kanojo' Review" series, but it will include GFs beyond chapter 212 (including the most recently published chapter); so you've been warned.*

*Plus because there's a lot, I'm splitting this in two, putting up Pt. 1 now and Pt. 2 later.*

Before the real meat: ***Rentarou Aijou***: I know most are going to want me to bow down and say he’s the greatest boyfriend ever and the best harem lead ever in all manga and anime ever made...but I can’t. In fact, I’ve sort of gotten tired of Rentarou to be honest. If this was prior to chapter 100, I’d believe you and just feel that he felt like a genuine, honest, good person who just works his way around situations, all while actually trying to figure out what is required to deal with the various girlfriends he’s collected due to the situation he’s stuck in. But post-chapter 100, his bit just became way less interesting to me...probably moreso since “The Wedding Arc” where he just randomly proposes to all the Gfs while only 1/4th of the way to the magic number (let alone the idea of “he has to have all of them instead of having one actual bride and still being friends/family/connected to the others”)...but even before then. It’s just boring to read anything focused around Rentarou anymore; the “zing” chapters just aren’t as interesting since he always knows what to do every single time and they’ve just made him more and more unstoppable with anything he does; and the addition of the ‘Rentarou’s Daily Life with Gfs”, as much of a necessity as it was to at least have Rentarou in his own manga, just feels like the same things over and over in small bites in every single chapter, made worse in that it’s demanded in every cycle from Meru’s on; not even the regular Daily Life chapters get that luxury! His only interesting moments anymore are his darker ones where he isn’t “Mr. Perfect” or unleashes his darker elements...but even that hasn’t really happened since the Infinity God chapter. I think another issue is that probably after chapter 100, the “gag” side of the manga does feel way less prominent than it was, which I think also harms the manga as a whole but Rentarou in particular in they want to keep him “realistic” but still a gag character...and he just doesn’t fit. Rentarou’s...just played out; I think the cycle, as necessary as it’s been, has hurt as much as it’s helped, and for Rentarou I think it’s hurt him the most.

Unranked (37^(th) by default): ***Rana Fushina:*** She’s too new to really rank since she hasn’t been through the cycle as of this. But my initial reactions: I like her concept; unlike the other “girls with huge boobs”, the fact she has “huge boobs” is actually part of her story and her whole situation. It’s not a bad concept...except considering that still has more to reveal with one chapter up to now doesn’t mean a thing. (plus as I’m mentioning now with Kogoe: just because a girl has a strong, interesting intro doesn’t mean it’s going to keep them endearing to me even in their intro period)

***36. Himeka Saiki:*** And the award to the most pointless, boring GF goes to...yeah, the “smug” bits can be funny on occasion but it feels like she just goes between extremes of “super-competent, popular rising musical idol” and “utter weirdo who does weird things just to say she’s weird”. There’s nothing to her, and that unfortunately is all I can say.

***35. Kusuri Yakuzen:*** Just...I mean...I can’t say I completely hate Kusuri: I do like some elements of her not wanting to grow up and understand why she prefers her 8yo form over her 18yo form and she does have some cute moments like the “Great Adventure of Pentarou” or her interactions with Kishika and potentially Saki. But so many problems in this manga are just her fault and she just grates on me when she isn’t that good, from all the drugs screwing with everything and her never fixing them (speed up the need for the Negation Drug for the Baby Drug, you idiot!) to this immaturity that basically ruins her serious arc in not being willing to accept her grandmother’s own mortality; I get why she did what she did, but it’s like she’s forever trapped as a little girl and that’s part of the reason she doesn’t want to be 18 and it just hurts her so much.

***34. Eira Kaho:*** “Hey, let’s make a more annoying version of Kishika to the point that they essentially have the same ‘zing chapter’...but we’ll make her a hot girl of foreign origin!” Eira’s one of those girls I really wish was handled better as the first “half-foreign girl” and our first dark-skin girl, but the “can’t take out anything I can’t physically attack” bits just really, really hurt her; and even her attempt at connecting with Mei just was circular in the end and just made her feel even more meh.

***33. Hasuha Hasu:*** We already have a doggirl with Mei...so let’s create a “dog-tective” who is way too obsessed with smells to the point of annoyance. She really hasn’t done much, though, since her intro, and she is a cute design and I do like her with Iku and Yamame so she isn’t as low as she could be. But still...I don’t get smell fetishes.

***32. Rin Baio:*** Yeah...I’m not a Rin fan. I get it: proper sweet girl who obsesses with violence; it’s an interesting combination but...when they emphasize too much the violence element and not the “proper sweet girl” element (let alone she plays the violin and that really only factors in...being friends with Uto?), it just gets tiring. I do think some recent moments like with Uto or the “Loveney Land” bit with Nemu tries to show more with her...but I wonder if it’s too little, too late.

***31. Hakari Hanazono:*** At the start of the manga, she was easily the weaker of the two initial Gfs with Karane just being much more fun, interesting and defiant. That did change with the “Hakari Rescue” arc and I do think that was a highlight of the manga and for her...but since then it’s mostly just been about “mwehehe” ideas and G-cups and kissing Karane. She’s still got her moments but I think she just peaked too early.

***30. Iku Sutou:*** Iku...you really have fallen so far from your introduction, haven’t you? Even with the “pain” gag, the opening baseball arc is one of the best intro/Meet the Family arcs in the manga and she just continues to be fun with elements involving her obsession with hard work and her insecurities of being more masculine despite the feminine nature of the earlier girlfriends. (the date chapter with the movie and batting cage is just one of her best moments) But somewhere she just became just and only about the “pain joke” and it just ruined her; the only reason she’s here higher than others is because of that early potential before it got squandered.

***29. Chiyo Iin:*** Chiyo is a character that I have come to appreciate...in theory. I like we get a member of Rentarou’s family as part of the cast; I like her sisterly nature and the motherly aspects to her, and I love her interactions with other classmates like Matsuri and Eru; in fact I’d argue Chiyo’s the most developed girlfriend that isn’t one of the earliest! But the introduction for her is still one of the worst (between that terrible first look she has and the 51-52 mess as a whole) and...it’s still Rentarou’s 12 year old cousin that’s a girlfriend and...that will never go down well with me. Ever.

***28. Saki Tomogara:*** The idea of a 4^(th) year (a third year with an extra year) with a Napoleonic complex of being the “senpai to everyone” looks good on paper...but I do think she sort of fizzles out with how that really is all there is to her and how they have to keep her so weak and pathetic which is part of the joke but can be annoying. If it weren’t for her and Matsuri’s feud, I’d have forgotten her already.

***27. Yaku Yakuzen:*** So let’s turn an 89 year old grandmother of one of the other girlfriends into an immortal 8 year old...and still make her a girlfriend. I mean...there are May/December romances but I think maybe they went a bit too far with her. (it’s like they want “Harold and Maude” but still keep her cute enough) Like with Chiyo, I think she could have been a fun character as a side character that associated with the family due to Kusuri and her obsession with her, and she does have some funny interactions (see Naddy or Saki), but I do think maybe they went a bit too far to try and make her fit the concept and to “outdo Hahari in age” (especially since she’s the only GF that surpasses the 20s and yet she still looks like an 8 year old due to drugs)...and it’s not really made better with what Kusuri’s serious arc did to her though I blame that more on Kusuri since Yaku at least seems to accept death better than her.

***26. (spoiler) Kogoe Mishiro:*** The most recent girlfriend who has had a full cycle at the time of this...and it’s sort of sad that with all the breaks and her changed “Meet the Family” chapter, she really hasn’t left an impression. She’s cute, and her element of always being cold can lead to fun interactions, but she really hasn’t done too much and just went through her key chapters way too quickly (especially with the “Daily Lives” so early during her cycle and way more about twintails...) that she’s basically forgettable now.

***25. Tama Nekonari:*** So we get a catgirl. But it’s not really a catgirl. I do like Tama’s origin elements and the idea of coping with depression and dealing with things you don’t want to, but somehow I do find annoying how much she thinks she’s a cat as opposed to a human and people just...let her do that. Even to the point of “you don’t need a job...no wait she does because if she doesn’t, then she’s worthless despite the obsession with being a pet”.

***24. Shizuka Yoshimoto:*** I know many love Shizuka and she has her moments (mostly any time where she seems way more dangerous than anyone realizes between her cuteness or the things she gets caught in), but I’m not as in love with her as others, though I still like her. Things like the mess with meeting the “Circlet Ring Story” author and her chapters with Meru and recently Kimari have definitely helped her out; and then the whole thing with Nano...eh, Nano just has her moments and unfortunately just needs to deal with that cute element in some regards.

***23. Kurumi Haraga:*** Kurumi’s decent and I do like elements about her; I actually prefer her as the “tsundere with the most logic” compared to the likes of Karane or Mai, and she’s a decent person and one of the most friendly all while dealing with idiots like Momiji. However I do think the “hungry over everything” bit gets to be a bit much and tiresome when it’s overused but without it or some other elements, she can get a bit forgotten these days.

***22. Hahari Hanazono:*** There are so many things wrong with Hahari: her obsession with babies and turning people into babies, over-perving over every little thing and her stalker-like nature that just makes her into a complete and utter monster. But at the same time she still has her good moments that make me appreciate her: her backstory is tragic (even if questionable with recent elements), I do like when she has her more serious moments in being a chairwoman and a mother (let alone “final villain Hahari” from her intro arc in 15-19), and some of the goofier moments do fit her; not all of them...just the ones where she feels like a goofy adult and not a complete psychopath that wants to throw everyone into baby clothes just cause.

***21. Momoha Bonnouji:*** I sort of want to like Momoha...except somehow something prevents me from doing so. To me, Momoha is the first GF where the tropes seemed to try to become more than the GF themselves and just overwhelm them; I do like the idea that she wants to be a good ethics teacher despite her own failings with her vices, but I do think she goes a bit too far with the vices sometimes and doesn’t get the more mature element of her character explored as often as I’d like.

***20. (spoiler) Chiyu Jiai:*** I’m sort of happy the “school nurse being absent” running gag is finally resolved with her introduction, but I do think her whole “compassion to the form of anger” element can be annoying and hurts her a bit; and there really isn’t that much to her otherwise at this point to really go through.
