Hey everyone,

So I’ve been doing freelance web design and front-end work for a while, and honestly the part of the job I’ve always hated is auditing a site. You know the drill. Opening DevTools, squinting at font sizes, hunting down hex codes, measuring spacing, saving assets one by one. On a full client audit that’s like 30 to 40 minutes of pure mechanical busywork before I can even start thinking properly.

A few weeks ago I got fed up enough to actually do something about it. I built a little Chrome extension called PageLens. It’s basically a visual design and UX analyzer that pulls up typography, colors, assets and layout info on any page instantly, so I’m not clicking around the inspector tab by tab anymore.

I built it for myself first, it wasn’t really meant to be a “product.” But once it actually started saving me time in my own workflow, I cleaned it up a bit, added a small premium tier just to see what would happen, and threw it up on the Chrome Web Store.

It’s only on the Web Store for now. No big launch, no Product Hunt, nothing fancy. But within the first few days of it going live, a few people actually upgraded to the premium tier. It’s not life changing money or anything, but having complete strangers pay for something I originally built just for myself feels kind of surreal.

A few things I’m taking away from this so far:

	1.	Solving one specific annoyance beats building some giant “platform.” I didn’t try to make a do everything SEO suite. It does one boring repetitive thing and just takes it off your plate.
	2.	Shipping the unpolished version was the right move. The UI isn’t pretty yet and I’ve got a backlog of like 20 features, but the core thing works and that’s what mattered.
	3.	Building for your own pain genuinely works. Turns out a bunch of other people were stuck doing the exact same tedious manual stuff.

If you’re a designer, front-end dev, or anyone who does UX or design audits and hates the manual inspecting part, I’d love some honest feedback (brutal is totally fine). It’s “PageLens, Design & UX Analyzer” on the Chrome Web Store.

Also genuinely curious, what’s the one thing in your audit workflow you’d kill to never have to do manually again?

I spent years auditing client websites by hand in DevTools, so I finally built the tool I always wished existed
