Unstable In All My Ways
You brought me heaven on your lips,
Then sank your hand into my heart.
You left me here alone again,
In the sands of your Babylon.
I am roaming forevermore,
Calling your name into the winds,
Searching hard for my inner peace.
But like the dark of the night,
It is gone by the morning time.
The heat that's forced down upon me
By the ways of our twisted past.
It surrounds me; it holds me here.
I know with my final moments
I will find my Eden again.
---
The moon brought me your silhouette,
Watching you bathed in the midnight.
I could not see your intentions,
Blinded by the swell of the tide.
That one night has kept me alive
Longer than I should have ever been.
I drank from the living water,
But I did not touch the fruit there.
So why was I cast to the sand?,
Roaming with the ghosts and spirits
That were once who I was for you
With no signs of the river here,
I must be farther than I thought
From finding you, my Eden.
---
Could you take my worship and praise,
Or is it too much for you, dear?
I gave you everything I owned:
My heart, my living, breathing soul,
Just to taste your divinity.
I'm finding myself wanting more,
To be wrapped in your silver touch,
The one you traded me for.
Let me feel your presence again;
I can't go on any longer.
Were we burning bright with passion,
Or were they darkly nurtured dreams?
A delusion to have faith in love,
A delusion to find Eden.
---
There was strength in my resolve
To find love in your heart again,
But the desert will claim me now.
For forty days and forty nights,
I've burnt my skin on jagged rock.
So raise your knife on Moriah;
Strike me down in your loving name.
My heart will continue for you
Where my body no longer can.
I've become just another ghost
To wander your desert now.
Take me to the river, show me
How close I was but failed you.
Tell me how much I let you down,
And I will still search for you,
My Eden,
My ever-loving Eden.
