is Dreamlit AI worth it for email automation or could i just script it, solo founder asking

genuinely torn so i'll lay out both sides.

the "just script it" case: my app's on Supabase, i can write database webhooks and call an email api myself. it's not rocket science. paying monthly for something i could build feels like the lazy tax.

the "it's worth it" case, from 2 months of actually using it: the scripting is never just scripting. it's the trigger, the retry logic, the template, joining in the user's data, and the null-field bugs when a row is incomplete. Dreamlit handled that layer off my Supabase data without me writing functions, set up the auth emails almost automatically, and the preview-against-real-rows caught a broken merge before it shipped.

so the real question isn't "can i script it," it's "is my time worth more than the subscription." for me, as a solo founder drowning in everything else, it was. for someone who enjoys the plumbing and has time, scripting it is totally valid.

worth noting scheduled/recurring sends were still coming-soon-ish when i checked.
