How to get dried blood out of white sheets and quilt

Hi all,

My cat has had a repeated bloody nose and I've just found he's sneezed over our white guest bedding a few times over what I assume is a period of weeks. Cat is fine, he's been checked out, so no worries there, but my linens are not!

I'm assuming I'm going to need to bleach the quilt and sheets. It's a really soft quilt and I don't want to damage the fibers. The sheets are quite expensive and two-toned white (slightly striped).

I've never bleached laundry before - could people please give me some tips for how to safely approach this? What do I need to buy and what do I need to do? I only have a cold water hookup for my washing machine, so I only have a cold water option too (although I can take it to the laundromat if need be).
