π§ Round 1 Analysis & What This Means For You
- Top Tiers are Heavily Inflated: Closing scores above 750+ for CSE and VLSI at top-3 NITs show intense competition at the very top. Don't panic if your choice did not slide or float into your dream branch just yet.
- The COAP Interlocking Effect: A significant percentage of top rankers currently locking down these Round 1 CCMT seats are also holding parallel offers on the IIT COAP portal. Once the subsequent COAP acceptance deadlines hit, these students will withdraw from CCMT, forcing significant cutoff drops in Round 2 and Round 3.
- Patience is Key: Historically, the most drastic movements and actual relaxations happen during the National Special Rounds in July. If you have a decent middle-tier score, holding onto your float strategy often pays off.
π οΈ Your Next Steps:
- Float: Choose this if you want your option upgraded to a better branch/college combination in Round 2.
- Slide: Choose this if you want to look for an upgraded specialization within the same allotted institute for Round 2.
- Freeze: Choose this only if you are completely happy with your current branch and seat and want to pull out of subsequent rounds.
Crucial: Ensure your online document uploads and Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF) payments are completed within the official window, or your allotment will automatically be canceled!
