UPS battery health monitoring — anyone else feel like you're flying blind?

Had a frustrating experience recently where our UPS self-test passed, battery showed 100% charge, no warnings on the display — and then during an actual power event it didn't hold up as expected.

Got me wondering: how does everyone else actually verify UPS battery health? Because between the self-test, the predicted replacement date, and what the software reports, I've seen all three say different things at the same time.

What's your current method for knowing a battery is truly degraded — not just what the UPS tells you?

Asking because I'm genuinely trying to figure out if the tools we have are good enough, or if there's a real gap here that nobody's solved yet.
