Delhivery marked my parcel as delivered, but gave me someone else's package. I managed to get the wrong package back as evidence. What should I do next?
Hey everyone,
I'm hoping someone here can point me in the right direction because I'm honestly at my wits' end with Delhivery.
A few days ago, my brother sent me a personal parcel from Kerala to Delhi. This wasn't an online order or anything commercial, just a normal package which he brought me from the US.
When the delivery guy arrived, he handed me a parcel with my address on it, so I accepted it. The contents were completely different from what my brother had sent.
What made it even stranger was that inside the package were three separate shipping receipts/barcodes that appeared to belong to different shipments and different customers.
I immediately contacted the delivery executive and handed the parcel back to him, assuming he would sort it out. Instead, a little later, Delhivery updated the tracking status to "Delivered."
Since this is a personal shipment, their support system has been completely useless. Every complaint just gets an automated response telling me to "contact the merchant for a refund." There is no merchant. It's literally a package sent by my brother.
After realizing I had no proof of what happened, we called the delivery guy back and convinced him to return the wrong parcel to us. Thankfully, he did, so I currently have the incorrect package in my possession.
At the moment, I have:
- A photo of the original parcel my brother packed before shipping it from Kerala.
- The wrong parcel that Delhivery delivered to me.
- The shipping receipts/barcodes that were inside that parcel.
- Screenshots of Delhivery's automated responses and the tracking page showing "Delivered."
My main questions are:
- Since Delhivery has marked the shipment as delivered, how can I use the wrong parcel as evidence to challenge that?
- Should I file a consumer complaint first, or is it worth filing a police complaint as well since my actual parcel is still missing?
- Has anyone here successfully escalated a similar issue with Delhivery and actually gotten a response from a real person?
It's been several days now with no meaningful response from them, and I'm worried my actual package has either been lost or stolen or delivered to someone else.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
