I have a conspiracy theory: being a loyal customer is the most expensive mistake you can make.

This applies to internet providers, phone companies, streaming services...and especially car insurance.

Every year I get a renewal notice that's somehow higher than the last one.

No accidents. No tickets. No claims. Nothing.

I've reached the point where I honestly wonder if insurance companies assume most people are too busy, too tired, or too lazy to question it.

"Eh, they'll complain for five minutes and pay it."

Because that's exactly what I've done.

For years.
