Title: A Few Things I Think Visitors to Kandy Shouldn't Miss

I've lived in Kandy for years and noticed that most travel guides recommend the same places. While those are worth visiting, here are a few things I personally enjoy and often suggest to visitors.

🍡 Have a plain tea and a hot wade

One of the simplest local experiences. Try a parippu (dhal) wade or an uludu wade with a plain Sri Lankan tea from a small tea shop. Nothing fancy, but it's something many tourists miss.

πŸŒ… Walk around Kandy Lake at sunset

This is probably my favourite thing to do in Kandy. The temperature drops, people come out for a walk, and the atmosphere feels completely different compared to the middle of the day.

πŸ“ Watch the sunset from Kandy View Point

If the weather is clear, it's one of the best views of the city.

πŸ’ƒ Catch a Kandyan cultural dance show

Usually around 5 PM. A good introduction to local culture if it's your first time in Sri Lanka.

🌳 Visit Udawatta Kele Sanctuary

A peaceful escape from the city if you enjoy nature and walking trails.

πŸŽ“ Explore the University of Peradeniya

A lot of visitors go to the Botanical Gardens but skip the university. The campus itself is beautiful and worth a walk around.

My perfect Kandy evening is honestly just a hot wade, a plain tea, and a slow walk around the lake while watching the sunset.

For people who have visited Kandy, what would you add to this list?
