Mazda appreciation post - dealer pulling msm engine for full reseal. Strangely affordable.
Happy Monday all. As a long time Volkswagen cultist I ended up pulling the trigger on a Mazdaspeed Miata with a handful of oil leaks / other tedious issues last year. I finally bit the bullet and called the dealer to put an end to my endless weekends on my back trying to get this thing back in shape.
They are pulling the engine for a full oil pan reseal and I asked them to do everything else they could think of while the engine is out. To replace every external oil seal, replace the timing belt, and replace my faulty neutral safety switch, and drop the oil pan to re-silicone the whole bead, it came to a whopping grand total of $1,900. That is almost the cost of just my timing belt replacement on my golf tdi. Not to mention the rest of the work they are doing. I couldnt believe my ears when they gave me the quote on the phone. Happy customer in a soon to be happier Miata.
Happy driving folks. Enjoy the week.
