Does Splendour sell out? And how much do they check bags?

Just wondering does Splendour sell out usually? Thinking of booking tickets but have to wait to payday - am I risking it by waiting until the end of the month to book?

Also, how throughly do they check bags? I see online you can bring refillable water bottles but do they check what’s in them?
