Is the rental market asking too high of a price?
Context : Me and my wife currently resides in a 2 bed 2 bath townhouse for 2050$ + utilities + hot water tank rental+ furnace rental. After a year of living here we got a pet dog and now need more space.
Started looking for 3 bed house/townhouse. So far all the houses that we have seen come in an arrangement where the main floor is rented for 2300-2699$ + utilities and the basement will be excluded. Someone actually told us that we can have the whole house for 3000$+ utilities. Which I guess will boil down to a total of their mortgage payment (only mortgage)
Is that something I should be expecting in current market or landlords are just jacking these prices so they can get their mortgage payment?
I mean honestly if I had 3000$ for a rental place, I would rather get a house of my own.
But just wanted to know if I am wrong here and the landlords are just doing what they need to do?
