Looking for Logistics Finance Guidance from Industry Experts

Ask r/tanzania

Hi everyone, I’m currently learning finance for a small logistics company in East Africa doing cross-border logistics and I'm trying to understand how companies actually handle the financial side of operations.

I’d really appreciate insights from people in the transport/logistics space on how you manage accounting, fuel tracking, and profitability.

Specifically:
- What systems are absolutely necessary in tracking the company’s finances?
- Do you track profit per trip or per month?
- What tools do you use in practice (Excel, accounting software, etc.)?
- How do you manage fuel tracking and driver expenses?
- What are the biggest mistakes I/ the company should look out for?

I’m trying to build a proper system from scratch, so any real-world insight would really help. Thanks in advance.
