The Way People Are Treating Wemby Is Going To Set Him Up to Fail

After the Spurs won the WCF, people, both IRL and in various NBA subs, were ready to anoint Wemby as GOAT. Hell, the NBA itself was ready to anoint him, too. But most importantly, he was ready to anoint himself as the new face of the NBA. He was ordering hits (Hard Fouls) on people like a damn mob boss, the refs were making sure he didn't get fouls on all of his dirty plays, and the fans are making excuses for him every dirty shot he pulls.

He has a lot of potential but he has a lot of holes that have been exposed during the finals. Yeah, Fox messed up but people need to hold Wemby accountable for the finals lost, too. Young or not, he's the face of the Spurs and the leader and in his position, there are expectations he isn't rising to because of the way he's being treated.

His fans and his team can't treat him with these kid gloves they've been treating him with for all last season. He needs to grow up, stop with the cringe villain shit, and mature because if he's not careful, he could literally end up like Ben Simmons.

Remember Ben?

People laugh, but I remember when they were hyping him up as the next LeBron. His fans were excusing his lack of a jumpshot, his attitude, and his playstyle until that Hawks game happened. And because of his ego, he refused to change anything and now, he's gone.
