Using AI for Research Made Me Realize How Important Critical Thinking Still Is
When I first started using AI for my thesis research, I was amazed by how quickly it could summarize articles, explain concepts, and suggest sources. It felt like a huge productivity boost.
However, after a few weeks, I noticed that some information wasn't completely accurate, and a few sources it mentioned either didn't exist or weren't relevant to my topic. That's when I realized that AI is a great research assistant, but it can't replace critical thinking.
Now I use AI to help me get started, organize ideas, and understand unfamiliar topics, but I always verify information and read the original sources myself. In a way, AI has made critical thinking even more important because it's so easy to accept information without questioning it.
After discovering that some AI-generated information can be inaccurate, I've become much more careful about verifying sources and thinking independently. Has anyone else changed the way they use AI for research, and what's the biggest lesson you've learned from that experience?
