I am a 1st year NALCAP/auxiliaries de conversacion renewal in Extremadura. I have admitida status on Profex II and am eagerly/anxiously awaiting a carta de nombramiento so I can apply for my TIE renewal ASAP and not have to fly back to the USA this summer.
My TIE actually expired on May 30, 2026 so I am already currently in the 90 day grace period, which is not ideal (my visa expiration date stamped in my US passport ends on September 30, 2026 however).

Due to my expired TIE, from my understanding this also means that I cannot legally work this summer (not even tutoring in person or like online gig work for a US employer) until my TIE is approved. \*\*\*Please correct me if I’m wrong about that though\*\*\*

With the auxiliaries applications opening so late this year, this seems to be causing problems with my account at Santander bank. In fact, I ended up having two meetings at Santander on Thursday June 4th and Friday June 5th to explain my situation and how the carta de nombramiento might not even be issued until some time in July and only then can I apply for the TIE renewal and wait for it to be processed before I can give Santander my updated/new TIE.

I have a somewhat decent inscrita number (applied within the first hour of applications), 1st year renewals are supposed to have top priority, and my school forms show I want to return to my same schools and that they want me to come back for a 2nd year.

I really do not want to have to keep going back to Santander over and over again. They already switched my identification document in their system from the TIe/NIE back to my US passport, so I don’t understand what/if anything can be done at this point before I receive a carta de nombramiento…
Other than trying to email the ministry of education and/or the Junta de Extremadura to alert them to my issue with the bank and try to speed up the carta de nombramiento, does anyone have any other advice? Also, is anyone else facing this same issue with Santander or their bank? Are you moving money to other places like Wise, Revolut, or your home country’s banks because of this or a similar concern?
\*By the way, I already received my last stipend so I am all set with that.

1st year NALCAP/auxiliaries de conversacion renewal- is Santander going to block my account?
