Ol spanish study

Do you even need to study for the ordinary level spanish exam? I dropped down just before the mocks because I was doing terrible in Spanish, not the absolute worst but not the greatest either, i was scoring around 40-50% on my exams in higher level. If you even need to do any study, what should i do? I’ve just been looking at past exam papers
