The full stack I used to get my SaaS to $4k MRR as a solo founder

I build an invoicing tool for contractors. started it because I was tired of watching my brother in law chase payments with spreadsheets and whatsapp messages. took me about 4 months to get the first paying customer

built the whole thing with next.js and mongodb. claude code wrote probably 90% of the actual code while I focused on logic and product decisions. for anything I got stuck on I just described the problem and it figured it out faster than stackoverflow ever did. landing page was also built with claude. just kept describing what I wanted and iterating until it looked like something real. no figma no designer

stripe for payments, clerk for auth, crisp for support. all set up in a weekend and I haven't touched any of them since. I still answer every support message myself

posthog for analytics on the free tier. found two massive drop off points in onboarding I would have never caught otherwise. fixing those moved conversion more than anything else I did. ahrefs on the cheapest plan just to find low competition keywords contractors actually search for. notion to keep my head straight when I'm solo and context switching all day

for distribution I just showed up in facebook groups where contractors hang out and was genuinely helpful. no ads no cold outreach. slower than I wanted but those leads already trusted me before they landed on the page

subrevival for failed payment recovery. hooks into stripe and sends an automated sequence when a card fails. recovered a few hundred dollars the first month from people who just had an expired card and had no idea

polar for taxes and payouts so I never think about VAT

whole thing costs me maybe $80 a month to run

happy to answer questions on any of it
